Hello,
I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and that the new year is off to a great start for you.
I'm excited to be back & share some new psychology content with you this year.
Thank you all for your support and for being a part of this community.
Astronaut Syndrome (Overview Effect)
When astronauts return to Earth after spending a long time in space, they often experience a range of psychological changes.
These changes can be difficult to cope with, and can make it hard for the astronaut to readjust to life on Earth.
This is also known as Astronaut Syndrome or Overview Effect.
What do I need to know?
Some astronauts have reported feeling depressed or anxious after returning to Earth, and have sought treatment to help them cope with the psychological changes they are experiencing. In some cases, astronaut syndrome can have serious consequences.
Some of the most common symptoms of astronaut syndrome include feeling disconnected from friends and family, experiencing a sense of isolation, and having difficulty readjusting to the demands of everyday life.
People who have not experienced the unique challenges of living and working in space may have a hard time empathizing with the astronaut's situation.
As a result, the astronaut may feel isolated and alone, even when surrounded by loved ones.
