Hey,
Today, We will be talking about Bias Bias .
—
What is it?
Also know as the Bias Blind Spot, It is the cognitive bias of recognizing the impact of biases on the judgment of others, while failing to see the impact of biases on one's own judgment. [1]
Example -
For an example, You may think that you are very practical and logical person when it comes to making decisions but in the hindsight, you may have the pessimism bias.
Where does it occur?
It is the human tendency to think and make decisions which maybe biased by lot of internal and external factors.
You may not realise it in the first place but it definitely persists.
Why do I need to know?
A lot of it has to do with the self-serving bias and our tendency to protect our self-esteem.
We generally consider biases undesirable, so we like to think of ourselves as unbiased or, at least, less biased than average. But there’s nothing wrong with being biased. Biases are hardwired into our brains because we need them to simplify information and navigate the world. And denying their influence only gets you stuck in your old ways of thinking. [2]
Takeaways:-
It’s okay to be biased but it is better if you have the ability to recognise when you are being biased.
