Hola,
Today, we are talking about Blind-spot Bias 🤔.
What is it?
We often judge others for doing things in a particular way which doesn’t fancy us but maybe in hindsight, we are also doing that in a certain way.
You failing to recognize your own cognitive biases is a bias in itself!
Example:-
I believe you will understand it better by having a look at this meme.
(Have more better examples? Send me an email.)
Where does it occur?
As humans, You won’t be aware of being biased because of it.
We have the tendency to form opinions and become biased knowingly or unknowingly.
Why do I need to know?
You often form a lot of “mental shortcuts” to a lot of new things and information you process. There are chances that these mental shortcuts aren’t “correct”.
Also, You will be more likely to find biases in others than in yourself because we are ingrained in our own world view.
Takeaways:-
Question yourself. Asking if what you are doing is how it should be done, is great way to reveal your blind spots.
Accept that you may be biased. You don’t have to be the smartest of all.
