Hello,
We are going to learn about Finish the Job Fallacy.
What is it?
The "finish the job" fallacy is one of the many smokescreens that are used to cover the fact that the reasoning is based on one of the three fallacies of Agrippa's trilemma. Whenever a logical fallacy is committed, the fallacy has its roots in Agrippa's trilemma.
All human thought (without Divine revelation) is based on one of three unhappy possibilities. These three possibilities are:-
infinite regress,
circular reasoning,
or axiomatic thinking.
Examples:-
Getting a college degree with the resulting debt lasting well into retirement is an example of the finish the job fallacy. Calculate the cost and the return on investment. If it isn't there, choose a different option.
Finishing a software project after the needs of the organization have changed to the point where the software is not needed is an example of the logical fallacy of finishing the job.
Where does it occur?
The "Finish the Job Fallacy" occurs when work continues on a project because of duty to finish rather than for the purpose of the project.
It is really a good thing to finish the job if the job should be finished. Sometimes, you find out that the job is not a good job to complete before you finish the job.
Why do I need to know
Some have claimed that only logic and math can be known without Divine revelation; however, that is not true.
There is no reason to trust either logic or math without Divine revelation. Science is also limited to the pragmatic because of the weakness on human reasoning, which is known as Agrippa's trilemma.
