What is it?
Pro-innovation Bias occurs when the inventors of a “product” tend to overvalue the usefulness of their product so much that they overlook the weaknesses and limitations, it has.
Example -
You might’ve have heard of Magic leap and what happened with all the hype they built.
This discussion on Reddit has a great debate going.
Where does it occur?
It happens everyday in Silicon Valley, in the life of Wannapreneurs.
Everyday, People create products which they think can change the world. In the hype of promoting it & making people believe in it, they go too deep into that.
Why do I need to know?
If you are someone who is building a business or a product, you would’ve heard of people saying, “Listen to your customers” or “Listen to the market”.
This bias is the reason why it is correct on many levels.
