Hey,
Let us discuss about Stereotyping 👨🎤.
What is it?
Expecting a person or a group to have certain qualities without having the real information about them.
While it allows us to quickly identify enemies or friends, people use it to their advantange by abusing or overusing it.
Example -
Once when I went to a singer’s concert, Someone told me that the artists usually drink alcohol before coming onto the stage to gain confidence or perform better.
While I find it hard to believe, it certainly has made me biased when I see any singer performing well, whether they are drunk or singing, passionately. 🤷♂️
Where does it occur?
You will notice it occuring in various class of people, cultural groups or a specific group of people with certain traits.
Why do I need to know?
While stereotyping helps us to identify how to approach a situation which has occured to us before,
It can also make you ignore the important differences between us, individuals, making you believe in false facts or beliefs accredited to the group or class or people.
Takeaways:-
Indeed, Stereotyping reduces the “processing load” off our brain but remember, it can not always be helpful as you might miss out on the details.
If you know what your customers had to experience when they were solving a problem which you are also solving, You can have an extra edge by making your solution better for them and provide them with a enhanced experience.
