Good morning,
Let’s learn the fallacy of Worse Case Possibility.
What is it?
Just In Case Fallacy / Worst Case Scenario Fallacy occurs when the worst case scenario is used rather than the most likely scenario in making an argument.
Where does it occur?
A pessimistic fallacy by which one’s reasoning is based on an improbable, far-fetched or even completely imaginary worst-case scenario rather than on reality. This plays on pathos (fear) rather than reason, and is often politically motivated.
Why do I need to know?
There must have been many instances when we think to ourselves "I don't think I need this much, but let's get it just in case I actually do". We don't often think too much about it, but these small costs build up. [1]
